TUPLES Project: Approaching the Finish Line. GA Assembly in Bologna

As the TUPLES project enters its final phase, the consortium gathered in Bologna for the 31st-month General Assembly—an event graciously hosted by the University of Bologna and Optit. Held in the historical setting of San Giovanni in Monte, the meeting brought together academic and industrial partners from across Europe to reflect on the journey so far, consolidate key results, and plan the crucial final steps. The beauty of the location matched the depth of the discussions, offering a symbolic backdrop for a project that aims to blend cutting-edge AI research with grounded, human-centered impact.
As the TUPLES project nears the end of its three-year journey, our consortium is witnessing ideas take shape in ways both expected and unexpected. Like all genuine research endeavors, some paths have unfolded as foreseen—while others have led us into uncharted, and often richer, territory. That’s part of the beauty of innovation.
Scientifically, the output has surpassed even our most optimistic projections. With 61 high-impact publications already released—and more still in the pipeline—we can confidently say that TUPLES has made a significant mark on the international research community. These papers have been featured at the top conferences in planning, scheduling, and trustworthy AI, a testament to the quality and relevance of our work.
Meanwhile, the Exploitable Results Inventory is taking form, with concrete progress made across four diverse and demanding use cases. This has anchored our research in real-world needs and created a solid foundation for future applications.
The coming months are particularly important. We will delve into the outcomes of the BELUGA competition and showcase the tangible ways in which our work has advanced Trustworthy AI and made planning and scheduling systems more robust, transparent, and understandable through hybrid approaches.
Beyond the technical achievements, the human side is really inspiring. For months, people from different countries and disciplines have worked side by side—sharing ideas, solving problems, building systems. We’ve become a true community. And in a world that often focuses on divisions, TUPLES stands as a reminder of what we can achieve when we focus on what unites us.
